Hole In One For Oliver

The last fortnight at the Machrihanish Golf Club has been a busy one as far as the fixtures list goes, with the contesting of the Peace Cup, the Carskiey Cross and April Medal, and last Sunday’s Shield Fourball competition.

The Peace Cup saw the first hole in one being carded by Oliver Armour at the 11th, the longer of the par 3’s on the course. Oliver also had the best scratch score of 70 on the day with his eagle at the 11th compensating for bogeys at the 1st and 14th to otherwise match the course and take 3rd place in the competition.

The top two were seperated by a count back after both Fergus Walker and John McKinlay finished with a net 68. It was a game of two halves as they say for John McKinlay as he reached the turn one over par, however the 19 shots it took to get through the 12th to the 14th on the way in left John to finish with a 78-10=68. Fergus took the top spot with a 75-7=68 after a very consistent performance.

The senior competition was won by Willie Miller, and the junior prizewinner was Andrew Wallace.
