The Castle

Torrisdale Castle was built in 1815 and extended in the early 1900s. Surrounded by magnificent trees it looks across the sea to the island of Arran.

The Accommodation

In the mid 80's the ground floor was converted into 3 very comfortable self catering apartments.

In the grounds are 5 cottages, also for self catering holidays, which sleep 2-10, and all provide a peaceful relaxing holiday in glorious scenery.

The Castle is very much a family home.  The Macalister Hall family have lived there since 1890 and the present owners, Donald and Mary, are always on hand to welcome guests and sort out any problems.

The 3 spacious apartments are all on the ground floor of the castle.  They all look out over the lawns to beautiful sea views.  All have large rooms with ample scope for playing on wet days!!  Heating is included in the rent, and domestic electricity is charged by meter reading.  Bed linen is provided.  All have bathrooms with bath and shower.

There are 5 individual cottages, all well equipped with their own garden.  All have open fires and logs are provided without charge.
