Bobby Willan (Snr) won the 2015 Spring Meeting & Captain's Prize on Saturday 18 th April with a stunning gross score of 66. Playing off a handicap of scratch, Bobby's nett 66 finished one shot clear of Gavin McLachlan. The top two players were the only ones, out of a field of 75, to record nett scores under 70.The early morning starters faced a strong breeze and despite the wind easing as the day went on, scoring was tricky, particularly on the greens which were firming up.
Bobby recorded 3 birdies going out at the 2 nd , 3 rd and 8 th to reach the turn in 32. Another birdie followed at the 10 th and having reached the par 5, 12 th hole in two shots, Bobby's thoughts turned to the amateur course record - held jointly by Stuart Campbell and George MacMillan with 63. However, Bobby four putted for a bogey 6 and along with another bogey at the 16 th this proved costly. Birdies on the 15 th and 18 th holes saw Bobby home in 34 to shoot a brilliant 66 so early in the season. The great score resulted in Bobby winning captain, Graham Anderson's prize for the best handicap score and, in addition, the gold medal for the best scratch score on the day.
Runner-up, Gavin McLachlan, posted the leading score earlier in the day with an 84-17, nett 67. An eight on the 10 th hole the only real blemish on Gavin's scorecard.
In the scratch section, reigning club champion, George MacMillan, had an excellent 70 with three birdies cancelling out three bogies.
In the junior section, young 12 years old prospect, Henry Palmer from Ardrishaig, returned a very encouraging gross 84.
