The Coronation Cup at Machrihanish saw the familiar pairing of Graham Anderson and David Rankin very much in the mix for the top honours in the competition which is played in a Bogey format.
The course never gave too much away with only 9 players finishing the day with scores that were ahead of the course.
Rankin threw down the gauntlet to his winter partner as he finished his early morning round with an excellent score of +4, after a gross round of 74 and only dropping points to the course at the 3rd and the 11th.
Anderson took to the course in the afternoon armed with the incentive that +4 was the score he would have to beat if he was to finish ahead of his winter league coach and mentor. Graham got off to a good start with pars at the first 5 holes and reached the turn in +3, before finishing a back nine that consisted of 7 pars to take him to the Clubhouse in +5 for the win.
Rankins day was further hi-jacked when J B McPhee also carded a +4 score with a better inward half to secure second place and push Rankin back down into third.
The Senior prize went to Willie Miller and the Junior winner was K Reppke.
