Young Golfers across Argyll and Bute had the chance to test their skills at a series of fun events this summer thanks to the success of a recent pilot competition. ClubGolf, in partnership with local golf clubs, went on tour during the school holidays for the first-ever Argyll and Dunbartonshire Junior Flag Golf Series.
The idea to launch a series came from ClubGolf Regional Manager, Sean Laird, after a one-off event in May which was enjoyed by 16 players and their families from a number of local golf clubs within Argyll. The series concluded at Machrihanish Golf Club on Sunday 9 August after events were held at Dalmally, Lochgilphead and Cowal over the summer months.Young players attended from Isle of Seil, Lochgilphead, Dunaverty and Machrihanish on the day in great conditions for golf. After hitting the course players then competed in a putting challenge which was hotly contested on the links course. After the trials and tribulations players, parents and volunteers were then invited to take advantage of the hospitality of the host club.
ClubGolf flag events allow youngsters to experience their first competitive golf in a fun and friendly environment, play different courses, and meet other players. They are geared towards boys and girls, aged eight to 14, who are in ClubGolf Stage one or two coaching programmes but do not yet have a club or CONGU handicap.

ClubGolf Regional Manager, Sean Laird said: "These events are designed to be achievable yet challenging and increase young players' confidence as well as have a bit of fun on the day. I am delighted at the uptake and support from the young players, parents and clubs across Argyll and Bute over the summer. Hopefully the clubs have seen how easy and fun the events are to organise and to set up on the day and will continue to run these in the future for the junior players. Finally I would to thank all involved in help organise these events and supporting on the day "
